The recipient of the Denver School of the Year is Schmitt Elementary. They have high answer/fidelity rates, have built strong tutor relationships, and believe whole-heartedly in the Tutormate program. All three of the teachers at this school, Ms. Callan, Ms. Sheehan, and Ms. Martinez shared on several occasions how their kids faces light up when the computer rings.
BNP Paribas and Ball Aerospace were so engaged with the students, making them all feel incredibly special. Ball Aerospace showed up to the end of the year party with the amazing swag, bringing additional exercise books, spinners, and even art projects - not to mention homemade treats that were out of this world! BNP Paribas bussed two whole classrooms to their high rise building (a very cool experience), the WHOLE office (not just the tutors), met the kids in their lobby with noisemakers and confetti. From their tutors they received star treatment, a buffet, every kid had a star, shared the books they had written together, and received tour of the whole office (both floors) - there might have even been office candy involved! They ended the day with a game of hokey pokey with the adults and were sent home with buckets of swag.
