Ms. Caitlin Green
Bahia Vista Elementary School
San Rafael, CA

Picture
.Caitlin Green, an outstanding first grade teacher at Bahia Vista Elementary School, graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Behavior in 2009. She returned to UCI and earned her teaching credential and master’s in 2011. After graduating, she worked as a tutor and in special education for a few years and then started substitute teaching. In 2015, she become a long term substitute teacher at Bahia Vista and has been there ever since! Ms. Green always knew she wanted to be a teacher and started working with young children when she was a teenager. She volunteered in preschools and after school programs and even taught swim lessons. She loved working with children and continued this type of work throughout college.

Ms. Green’s favorite children’s book is Fortunately, The Milk by Neil Gaiman, which tells an absurd story about why a dad is so late returning from getting milk from the store. She reads it to her students every year and each year the class is divided on whether or not dad is telling the truth! It makes for an enthusiastic and lively discussion among her students.

Seeing her students’ big smiles in the morning as she greets them is Ms. Green’s favorite part of the day. She loves their enthusiasm and their excitement to learn when they enter the classroom. The students also clearly love Ms. Green’s enthusiasm and it is evident she inspires them to love learning and try their best.

WHAT MAKES MS. GREEN'S CLASSROOMS SUCCESSFUL
TutorMate has been a success in Ms. Green’s class because of her dedication to communicating with tutors, her structured classroom setting, and making sure calls are always answered! She loves how excited students get when it’s their turn to read on the computer. She has also noticed that some of her shyest students talk the loudest on the computer, which goes to show how comfortable they are using the program! TutorMate is thrilled to work with such a dedicated and inspiring teacher as Ms. Green.
